Day 1: Aiken County Democratic Party and Nikki Haley Campaign Bus Stop

Day 1 of Road to the White House was an absolute success. We had a great time with the Aiken County Democratic Party learning about the county demographics, how the county party reaches voters, and what messaging they utilize to get voters excited and to the polls. Theresa, the Vice-Chair, and Pete, the lead canvasser were amazing to talk to and were even eager to learn from us how to engage the younger generation.

We joined the ACDP for a Black History Month Parade and two of our students Steven and Nathan walked in the parade with the NAACP and got to talk to the local chapter president and members.

Later we attended a Nikki Haley campaign tour bus stop in Irmo. The staff were very accommodating, got us in the front row, and let all of us take a picture with the former governor. At the end of the rally, we even met her son Nalin and talked to him briefly. We also met other students from the University of South California studying reporting presidential primaries and it was super cool to see other students studying the process like us.
